VEHICLE SERVICING

Why should I have my car serviced?

It's not the same as an MOT:

A common question asked is "I've just had my car MOT'd, why do I need to have it serviced too?". Many drivers feel this way, however an MOT is an annual road worthiness technical inspection for safety, it's not designed to repair or replace work vehicle components. A full service ensures wear and tear is taken care of while an MOT won't.

What does a Full Car Service include?

We offer three levels of service:

Interim up to 5000 miles or 6 months

Minor up to 12,000 miles or 12 months

Major up to 24,000 miles or 24 months

  • An engine oil change and filter replacement

  • Checking tyres, lights, exhaust and operations of brakes and steering alignment

  • Checking hydraulic fluid and coolant levels

  • Checking coolant system (from radiators in your car to pumps and hoses)

  • Suspension check

  • Steering alignment

  • Under body checks to make sure all components are in good order

Advantages of Keeping Your Car Serviced Regularly

A healthy car tends to be more affordable to run. Your car is likely to be more efficient on fuel, saving you cash at the petrol pump, when its components are running at their most effective level.

Taking care of smaller issues at an early stage will save you money in the long run and hopefully avoid any issues getting worse, becoming bigger and more expensive problems to repair.

A car that has been taken care of will have a longer life expectancy, saving you from the expense of having to replace it.

Having a full service history will help you get the best price when it is time to sell.

All service checks are provided in a form that will advise of your cars condition and will show which parts that are in good working order and which require replacing either soon or immediately due to unroadworthy faults.

You may be risking your life! There are numerous checks that we should make as car owners, but hands up, not everyone checks their tyres before every motorway journey. We tend to rely on our cars without thinking and often get lazy when it comes to safety checks and maintenance. An MOT only happens once every 12 months and that's a long time to let unforeseen problems bubble away, potentially resulting in a dangerous incident. Safety is a major reason to have your car serviced regularly between MOTs, although it shouldn't replace regular maintenance checks such as oil, coolant and tyres.

It's recommended that every vehicle is serviced at least once between MOTs. If you own an older vehicle or rack up a high mileage over the year then you may need more regular servicing.
